And we had the occasional weird stuff;
The Q65 ...from the sixties...who would have guessed?
Garage rock anyone?
And then something we all said at one or more times in our lives...heck, some say it every day:
Workers of the world unite! Take an old french folk tune and make it in to a song. Must be covered a 1000 times by now. Was a very big,big hit in Germany...is there an english version of this song? Must be.
Anyway....international succes..yes, it happened....Father Abraham with the Smurfs, Two unlimited wit No limit (nice song) and this man...George Baker!
Nice to know....the first thing this man bought when he made it big was a....washingmachine! True story!
So...yes..it was a cover...but better tham the Original!
Something new,something Fresh! De Staat!
And something of old:
Garage rock :
Think Pete Doherty and you get the picture..at the end drugged out jumped of the Amsterdam Hilton.
Shame, clever guy. Made himself also a name in art.
Two new sentimental songs :
Rap...Yes there is also rap-music in Holland! Don't worry that you can not understand the lyrics because neither can we...
How about some uplifting music? 1965....Ramses Shaffy! The Shaffy cantate!
And Ramses Shaffy also did one of the best Dutch songs ever; Pastorale!
Bombastic as anything you can think of!
Well...times were different then...
Anyway , here comes the summer:
Loved his music
This did rather well in the USA
And as a follow up they did this one.which the USA just did not take very kindly to...something about that weed or so...
